In Wedding Day Pet Attendant

I was so privileged and honored to be the Wedding Day Dog Attendant for the union of Moraya & Dutch Gaitly!

What a stunning couple that are beautiful people inside and out!  They consider their handsome Goldendoodle, Simba, a member of their family and included him in their wedding.  Simba was such a handsome stud and all the guests went “aww” as he walked down the aisle with the groom’s brother.

Let me back up a little bit.

Two days before the ceremony

I drove downtown to meet the awesome Simba. (He is SO STINKIN’ CUTE!!!)  We got acquainted and went on a 30-minute dog walk.  Even though we had a small window of time before the ceremony I was thankful the owners fit me in and allowed me to meet Simba before the big day.  Meeting beforehand greatly helps set the Wedding Day Dog Attendant service up for success because I can learn the nuances of the fur baby and bring the proper tools on the day of the ceremony.  I’m also able to build trust with the pup.  Trust is so important when working with animals in my opinion.  Simba and I had two 30-minute Dog Walks before the ceremony.  Simba is from Charlotte, North Carolina, so I gave him a tour of Downtown, Austin! Haha!  We cruised the trail around Lady Bird Lake, visited Arboretum Shores, saw the Stevie Ray Vaughn and Willie Nelson statues.  We had such a good time and when he got back to Proper Hotel he was ready for a big nap!

On the day of the ceremony

I arrived an hour and a half before the ceremony and Simba and I immediately went for a 45-minute Dog Walk.  We then were ‘on call’.  I like for the photographer and wedding planner to know where I am at all times, so we can jump in when needed and not slow anything down.  We popped in for some pictures with the groom and then again with the bride.  I had my attention-getting tools ready to go and Simba liked being in the action.  Boy, would he light up every time he saw his mom and dad! It was so sweet.

Time to walk down the aisle!

Simba walked with the groom’s brother, who was the best man, and he did so well!!  I was ready to step into action in case I needed to take Simba to the side, but not needed this time.  Simba sat and watched his parents lovingly.

It was such a wonderful day and a true honor the be the wedding day dog attendant for such a beautiful celebration!!
